I installed this as it is recommened a a companion to Super Anti Spyware Free edition as it is listening whereas Super does not in free - have to pay for real time protection etc. OK?

Working fine until downloaded a new version of AVast.

Then it said it was changed and I should scan for virus and then change over the file etc. Well tried but it wont do it. Keeps coming back up with alert then goes to not responding

So turned it off yesterday. today booted up and again problem and again not responding had to go Task end task and still not responding then window end program etc. ended it and then uninstalled it.

Anyone else had same problem?

this program is from Comodo - who make the Firewall 'ansome uses, but I tried that on previous computer and it wouldn't work for me so uninstalled. Maybe Comodo does not work with some programs?? Maybe AVast.

PS my notifier got changed on my email without me.

my computer went to hibernation and I had to change it back to never.

See also re IE7 playing up on windows - keeps coming on im add on disabled mode.

Gremlins in a second computer from different maker but both with XP Home edition. I hope not. Bit too Deja vu.

I haven't used Comodo firewall for some time now. Now that Nod 32 are offering a firewall as well as an AV program, I use their Security suite, and FIRST CLASS it is too. :D

Comodo, albeit a trusted company for Firewalls and programs of the like, I find is also a bit... annoying?

The Comodo firewall, when first installed, prompts you to allow or deny every single action. Once it gets to know more about your system and the programs you run it happily runs quietly in the background.

Chances are there is a notification pop-up about something going on with your system that the anti-viruses has already handled, or has locked.

I have uninstalled it as it wont give up and it annoying.

It was working fine but doesn't update often enough I thought and it was happy with Avast until new version. Avast updates daily.

There appears to be some confusion here. Comodo make an outstanding firewall; Avast is an Anti-virus programme; BOComodo is an anti-trojanhorse and other malware utility. They all do different things and you should have these three layers of protection.

By the way, do you know what the BO in BOComodo stands for? Back Orifice!! That's a polite expression for *rse-h*le. In not making it up, I read it on a security forum. :D

:D I know Avast is Anti Virus and that BOClean is anti trojans but it was suggested for a companion to Super Anti Spyware free version as it has no real time protection and that is what BOClean is.

I will reinstall it and see what happens now I have got rid of IE7 which mucked up my email and lost my auto connection and some other problems.

If that does not work will have to try another free program - or maybe bite the bullet and pay for the Pro version of super as it has real time protection and auto update too.

thanks for help - it is appreciated :D

Lamb Chop, any decent anti-virus will protect you from most trojans & a proper firewall will warn you of anything being sent out which you haven't approved. BOComodo is realy aimed at heavy business users. If you are really worried about trojans I recommend WinPatrol FREE (here) or even Microsoft's own Defender (also free). Both these monitor every incoming and outgoing communication. There's no need for the average home user to buy any commercial products, there are plenty of good free ones available, imho.

Thanks Dencandy - will do that then. I hadnt got around to reinstalling BOClean yet so save me a job there.

I have downloaded WinPatrol and will try that one.

I just want to make sure this computer stays free of whatever made the other one go bonkers and corrupted not only the OS but also the hidden OS partitioned.

:D
