A question for the mobile phone experts

'Er indoors and me both have mobiles connected to Orange pay as you go. Due to her arthritis she is having difficulty with the buttons on her phone, but can manage fine with mine. If we swap phones it will mean extensive re-entering and deleting of favourite telephone numbers. Can I just simply swap the SIM cards over, will that do the trick? Are there any problems either with the phones themselves, the telephone numbers of the phones, or contractual difficulties with orange. :D

I am not an expert, just swap the sim cards, if you haven't told the phones anything different the numbers will be stored on them. If it doesn't work out just swap them back

I'm not an expert either but, I've just bought a new phone and swapped the SIM cards over. The new one carries on just like the old one with all numbers and messages retained - both on Tesco.

Managements experience with her mobiles on Orange P A Y G seem to confirm the above opinions, as does the somewhat peculiar wording in the instruction book.

Just swap the SIM cards and see what happens - you can do no harm.

On my Motorola phone the address book can be stored on either the SIM card (100 max entries) - or in the phone itself (500 max entries). I use the phone data base because I have more than 100 addresses.

When I bought a new phone a few months back - I copied 100 addresses to the SIM card - put it in the new phone and copied them to the new phone memory, deleted the SIM card addresses then repeated the cycle until all the phone book was transferred.

Thanks folks. I will swap the cards over as advised. I have a few numbers stored on the phone data base as the names were too long for the SIM card memory. I can easily sort those out. :D
