It originated from within the head quarters of a once public utility and was circulated officially (said our friend).Subject: IMPORTANT - Bogus HM Revenue & Customs emailDear AllA number of branches have received an e-mail that appears to be from HMRevenue & Customs. The e-mail asks recipients to click on a link and fill in personal detailsto receive a tax rebate.The e-mail is not from HM Revenue & Customs and fraudulently requestssensitive personal details including credit card information.Please delete the e-mail immediately. AlanHo Posted July 24, 2008 Report Share Posted July 24, 2008 It gets worse.I received a very genuine looking letter purporting to come from HM Revenue & Customs stating that following the submission of my annual tax return, I owed them more than a couple of hundred pounds, and suggesting that I send them a cheque to the stated value.Thanks to all the warnings posted here I am too savvy to fall for the latest El Gordo scam and will ignore it.
