NV Active Armour - seems to be very buggy ???? from what I have just googled.

Can you disable this somehow to see if your Explorer problem is then cured ?

Otherwise try a System Restore back to a time when Explorer was working OK

Get FireFox

How would Firefox help with a Windows Explorer problem...?

@newvista: start with a malware scan at http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ - click on the v6.6 link on that page.

I agree. This solution to a Windows Explorer problem is not to install a new browser until such time as the windows installation is running correctly. Then and only then should other browsers and operating systems be installed, if that is what the user prefers. All too often peoples immediate solution to any Windows problem is to install FF, Opera or some other program. I tried FF and uninstalled it, but this was my own choice as it should be with all users. :D
