AlanHo
The term “bangers” with respect to sausages, originates from wartime when they had a high water content. This caused them to explode when cooked.More info here

catgate
I can't pretend to like sausages much..........We have a farm shop butchers a few fields up the road and his pork ones are superb. I have only ever found one bit of "rubber" in eight years. I always skin them though before cooking. He does a nice line in home fed and cured ham. All his stuff is local. The eggs come from another farm across a couple of field and each week he has a notice up telling where "this weeks beef is from....", "this weeks lamb is from....". His wife makes some very nice sausage rolls too.
