magnet14 Posted October 25, 2008 Report Share Posted October 25, 2008 I just bought a new PC and installed Windows XP SP3 on it.And I also saved a USB-powered glowing mousepad/usb-hub :PNow my problem is that when I shut down the computer, the mousepad/usb-hub still keeps glowing (which can get really annoying at nighttime).I didn't have this problem on my old PC - the pad/hub just stopped glowing and that's it.Can anyone help me and give me some suggestions/fixes please? -pops- Posted October 25, 2008 Report Share Posted October 25, 2008 This is quite common and unless you "pull the plug" you will have a trickle charge going through your machine which is sufficient to light the indicators on USB devices. It happens on two of my three machines.The answer is to shut down and switch off the mains power either at the wall or on the switch on the PSU. -pops- Posted October 25, 2008 Report Share Posted October 25, 2008 I think it's pretty much standard now to have the trickle current there all the time it is connected to the mains and I'm not aware of any method of stopping it other than physically switching off the mains power. Of course, "activity" also means movement of the resting place - vibrations, earthquakes, etc. may keep or turn the light on. I don't think it's a matter of the computer it is connected to.
