lizard_king4202
It does not show up as an option in the default programs application. I have installed yahoo and its toolbar and followed the steps in the yahoo tutorial on the webpage untill i got to the part where it told me to go to the programs tab in internet options and select yahoo messenger as my email client (this option did not exist so i went to the set programs button and tried in default programs.) I would really appreciate an answer to this it is really annoying. thank you.
andsome
Not an answer to your problem I'm afraid, but some time ago I installed Yahoo messenger at the request of my son while he was abroad. I have never had such an intrusive program on my computer, and it was a hell of a problem to finally get rid of, even worse than Norton. Best of luck. Dencandy
I assume you're using Internet Explorer as your browser & Outlook Express (Live Mail) or Office Outlook as your e-mail reader, all of which of which favour Hotmail. Some versions of Outlook only work with paid versions of Yahoo (see THIS). You may also have to uninstall your previous e-mail provider as it may be protecting itself to be the default provider. Also some modern security programs may also be protecting it. You'll need to search through their settings to check.Even if you do manage to get Yahoo set up as your default e-mail provider with IE you are still likely to have problems with it. Your might save yourself a lot of bother by following Curly Whirly's advice or by using another browser such as Firefox or Opera and/or another e-mail reader. Boris
You might find this of use ?http://sourceforge.net/projects/yahoopops/YPOPs! is an application which emulates a POP3/SMTP mail server and provides free POP3 and SMTP access to Yahoo! Mail. It does not depend on Yahoo's POP3/SMTP mail server. You can use a mail client of your choice!
