johnoo Posted December 3, 2008 Report Share Posted December 3, 2008 Recently on a certain web site, trip Advisor, i have been getting a message to say "Internet Explorer Script Error" "Object does not support this property or method."Why is this occuring and how do I stop it?ps i would send a screen print but cant see how to do it on this forum. Hb_Kai Posted December 4, 2008 Report Share Posted December 4, 2008 Maybe it's because the website is attempting to run a script which IE isn't compatible with either because it's just not or you don't have IE set to allow the scripts or you'd need to download something like an "add-on" for them scripts to be able to run.Could you post the URL and I'll check with my ancient IE and see if it occurs for me, if not then it must be something wrong with your IE. I assumed from the script error.Is this problem with both IE and BT browsers do you know?Hb Kai,I dont know about IE as for months my Firewll NV Active Armour has been blocking its use, and I have never bothered to rectify as I use BT Yahoo and Firefox as a Back up.I suppose the next question is " Do you get Script Errors on Firefox?"I have just done a quick trial on the Trip Advisor web site and could not get a Script Error to occur.For info I get into the web site via a Bookmark, would it be worth canceling the Bookmark and resetting? It's either the website isn't compatible with your browser or there's a corruption with the script settings in your browser.If it is your browser, you'd be best to re-install or repair it from the setup.exe, if it's the problem, emailing them saying it's not compatible with your browser and complaining won't go far, but probably the best you can do. Hb_Kai Posted December 4, 2008 Report Share Posted December 4, 2008 If your firewall is blocking IE, you won't be able to connect to the website, full stop.As I said; It's either the website isn't compatible with your BT browser, or, you have an error with your browser.To be on the safe side, back-up your BT browser's favourites, repair the browser using the setup.exe (if you still have it or via the CD if BT gave you a CD for their software), and then re-import your favourites, retry the website after that...If you're still getting the error then it's the website not compatible with the browser.
