Most likely causes:

The website is encountering problems.

There might be a typing error in the address.

What you can try:

Check your Internet connection. Try visiting another website to make sure you are connected.

it just started doing that abouta month or so ago... and i'm using AOL Explorer and i dislike it.

can any one help.

please and thanks!

You could try re-installing IE. Version 7 is downloadable from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/ie/getitnow.mspx

Ensure you get the version for your operating system.

Alternatively, you could try Firefox (which I use as default), Opera, Google Chrome or numerous others.

Hello and welcome to the forum. :flowers:

You could try turning the router off, then back on again after a few moments, whilst at the same time re-booting your computer.

Very simple, but sometimes effective. :D

Don't use IE. Firefox is better.

Sorry to disagree, but this is BAD advice. Choice of browser is of course entirely personal. It is obvious though that something is wrong somewhere, and the fault should be corrected first. Then and only then, make your own personal choice of browser to use. :D

Mrs Gary Sinise, this is a very unusual problem that you cannot use any internet browser at all, but you can ping a webset. It seems to me that there's some sort of corruption of your Windows system files that's preventing Windows from using a browser of any sort.

I suggest the following - go to All Programs, then Accessories, then System Restore. Check Restore My Computer to an Earlier Time and find a date before this problem began (I hope you have one!). Restore to that date by following the instructions on the screen.

Once done try to connect using the default internet browser (IE6).

Please post back what happens.
