catgate
I was reminded the other day of an old 9.5mm black and white home cine film. It was a short 2 reel comedy that an uncle of mine had during the war years. I have seen the film once since then, on TV many years ago. I would dearly like to know what it is called and would like to get a copy of it. So here is the rough plot and if any of our older members can shed any light on its name, or who the chap was who was in it, I would be most grateful. It opens with a chap, who looks like one of the Keystone Kops on his day off, asleep in bed. He is woken up by an alarm clock that tickles his feet with a feather. It also sets in motion a whole chain of events, with levers and length of string etc., part of which involves wakening a chicken in a cage to lay the man an egg for his breakfast. Followed by the mechanised boiling of the egg, and transportation of it to his bed side.He get up, and by means of more lengths of ropes and tassels he dresses himself in the bed hangings and curtains, which are really his shirt, trousers and jacket, hung up differently. By means of another tug on a tasseled rope the bed folds up into the wall and it is shown to actually be a fire place, with a roaring fire in it.He goes outside and there is a garbage bin. By a delicate movement the “garbage” sign becomes “garage” and out of a sliding panel comes a little bullet shaped conveyance on four wheels, and inside it is a large horse shoe magnet. The man sits in the conveyance and point the magnet at a passing Model T and away he goes. The rest of the film is made up of the sort of thing that used to happen with Model Ts and the Keystone Kops.

catgate
I vaguely remember the car bit, wasn't it Harold Lloyd?I don't think it was Harold Lloyd, doug. He had glasses and to the best of my recollection the chap in my film was specless. (but then again....time does some funny things with minds like mine.)
