TallyTiger
I am running Windows XP SP3 on a desktop. It has McAfee Internet Security. Today, the computer shut down by itself and when I restarted it there were several application errors but most importantly I notice I had no internet connection. I discovered that there was no network adapter in control panel and upon further investigation I found that no devices show up under Device Manager. It won't let me search for new hardware. When I try to run McAfee to do a scan, I can double-click on the short cut and a the initial graphic displays then nothing. I'm afraid I've got some big issues here.HELP! doug
Have you tried doing a Restore to an earlier point? Don't suppose you have a backup?
andsome
Have you tried doing a Restore to an earlier point? Don't suppose you have a backup? If not, once up and running again invest in a program such as Acronis or similar, and a plug in external hard drive. :D
Alan2273
If you are using on-board Ethernet, you could try a PCI Ethernet card as the on-board adaptors do sometimes go kaput.http://www.microdirect.co.uk/Home/Product/...10-100mb-Retail
TallyTiger
Have you tried doing a Restore to an earlier point? Dencandy
I also suggest you try to start your computer in safe mode & check everything from there. If you don't know how to start in safe mode please let us know.
