johnnyscience Posted June 28, 2009 Report Share Posted June 28, 2009 I have a 500g internal media HDD.I need to partition say, 100g of it for a special application.So what is the easiest way to go about this with out deleting any of the current data on that HDD? (a backup has been made just in case)It is currently an NTFS format & I want to keep it that way since I use it both on Windows & Ubuntu. Sbrideau Posted July 1, 2009 Report Share Posted July 1, 2009 I know it's not the best, but I use the one in windows (diskmgmt.msc), just right click and click shrink volume. Takes a few seconds and will have shrunk your volume. All you need to do is make sure you lost nothing then format the new partition.That is, if you're not on Windows XP.
