XP can only be installed on one machine at a time. That applies to the full retail version. OEM and pre-installed versions are tied to a single machine and if that fails, the license expires with it

what happened if i try to activate the second pc over the telephone but on a different continent ? will i still be treated as a pirated software ?? which one will ?? the first one or the second one ?? the first one I bought wasn't OEM and pre-installed but it's already activated since I bought it from the store. the second pc I installed on my own. but the first one still active and running, now I'm concern if I force to activate the second pc will affect the first PC.

Your only option is to purchase a new product key. The physical disk is immaterial. It is the 25 digit key together with the unique identifier of your computer (several things are taken into account here) that gives Microsoft the information required for activation. This information is recorded.

If you do not activate XP then the system fails after 30 days and becomes useless. It may happen that both systems become useless.

WXP is now obsolescent. Low cost genuine product keys may be available.

Is that right -pops-? For XP I thought the latest rules were that it continues working, but you won't be able to obtain any Microsoft updates except essential security ones. If you try to update with an unactivatateable copy of XP you get the option to purchase an activation key (used to be about $100). If you take that option Microsft will send it to you plus a genuine installation disk which is needed for re-installing, repairs, scannow, etc.
