Theoretically, each play is designed to score a touchdown, ie in some way (either by running or throwing the ball) getting it into the opponents end of the field. The thing about our football is that each player has a very specific task on each play. It takes the failure of one or more players to perform their task to allow the ball to be advanced (failure on the defensive side) or moved backward for a loss (failure on the offensive side). The yawn about soccer is that the ball just goes back and forth, back and forth, back and forth and it takes forever to score 1 point. If one side gets up 2 or 3 points, the other team might at well go home in the second half. In our football a large number of points can be scored in a short time, given a bit of luck, so the game can always turn around in the last few minutes. The down side is that it is fairly physical if you play "tackle" style football for fun, thus for recreation some play "two-hand touch" meaning that if you touch the runner with two hands it is the same as tackling him. Soccer lends itself very easily to casual sports. Then again, nobody has ever been killed in an American football riot at a game. :rolleyes: Guess I better mind my manners as it was you all that really pointed to the source of the problems I was having!! If I get mouthy where will I go next time??? :D I just kept trying combinations of solutions and bingo I hit one. I really do appreciate your help. It's interesting that with all the money Symantec, Dell Computers and Microsoft have collectively none of them ever suggested checking the registry. It was easier to say "Just format the hard drive!" I have bookmarked your site and will browse when I can, but I don't have the level of expertise you seem to. If, at another site, I run across a solution to some problem I will post it here too. Mr M, are you trying to blag some nylons from our American cousin? cu's they stopped doing that a while ago.FYI the game ended two-two which is quite a good result when you consider who we where playing. As you can imagine, when sprinting at full pace, and trying to look over your shoulder to catch a pass, glare from the light source bouncing off your sweaty cheeks can be a major problem.It also makes you look hard!! :blink: :P Which is why linemen do it!Mr. M. If they don't do something this year Mr. Spurrier may get sent back to coach college football where he was so successful. As a point of interest the skins play Seattle on sunday Nov 9th. We will have to come up with a symbolic wager of some type for fun. Interesting that spikey's mind turned to wearing ladies nylons when he thought someone might be looking for gift?! Hummm...Ellas: My impression about rugby is that a group of guys get together in a circle and someone throws the ball in the center and the guys then beat the stuffings out of each other. When that is over, as a second purpose, someone takes the ball and runs, passes or kicks it. Is that about right? :angry: spikey: The black stuff is supposed to stop the light (sun or artificial) from reflecting as much off their cheekbones. :ph34r: The helmets are becoming more and more obvious as I think so far this year in the pre-season or practice games two players have broken their necks!! These guys are huge! Some of the linemen are over 78" tall and weigh 300 to 350 pounds. I don't know how many meters and kilos or stones or whatever that is but it still has to be big! It's interesting to see them on TV as they are all the same size so they look average. Then when you meet one alone in public all you can do is stare.
