registry cleaner

Recommended Posts

There is nothing to be gained from using any "registry cleaner", even a relatively "safe" one as CCleaner.

Your computer won't run any faster after running a "registry cleaner".

It won't fix any system or application errors.

It will not remove any malware from your system.

It can, however, make your system completely unusable!

The Windows registry is like a database, which will not run any better or faster if a few unused entries are removed.

I have learnt the hard way with various other cleaners in the past. C Cleaner is great for everyday use to clean out all the temporary files etc. I don't normally disagree with Pat, but on this occasion I do regarding the registry cleaner. It is the only one that has NEVER given me any trouble whatsoever. It claims that it is definitely not the deepest cleaner on the market, but I have always found it to be perfectly safe. I do feel that it speeds things up. Personal opinion of course. :D

Pat is right though. :P There is no need to clean the registry of invalid or no longer in use registry values and will not speed up the performance of your system.

That is a proven fact. So....................

Amen to that.

Doesn't matter how many times you tell people that though, they'd still rather believe the "Snake Oil" salesman.

Football, Religion, Politics, Registry Cleaners, Ram Boosters, - Just a few of the subjects people can get very hot under the collar about. :D

Registry cleaners ? - Dont use them.

I agree with the above comments. Most experienced users say that registry cleaners are not necessary and will not speed up your computer. Here's a typical assessment: LIFEHACKER (scroll down the page a bit to find it). However, if you're a person who just likes to be tidy, then, like others, I have used CCleaner from time to time for a few years and it has never caused any problems. It's also free and there's a new version out: CCLEANER.

If you see an option to install the Google toolbar, you can uncheck that as it's not needed to run CCleaner.
