Craig Posted December 19, 2009 Report Share Posted December 19, 2009 Good Afternoon All,This afternoon Windows Forum was upgraded from IP Board 2.3 to 3.0; this is a major update, the last of which was carried out in December 2006.The updated version we are now running was released several months ago, so the application has had time to bed in within the communities and the majority of (if not all) bugs and quirks have since been ironed out.As an end user, the update brings enhancements to the interface over the previous version. New features have not necessarily been added, but previous features have been updated and work a lot better. You will also find that some aspects of the interface have shifted location, but hopefully it won’t take long to adjust.The reason the forum has been upgraded now was primarily to take advantage of enhanced security features the software has to offer. The previous version was no longer receiving updates which were leaving us vulnerable to attack, and hackers are using ever more sophisticated methods of attack, so rather than waiting for the worse to happen, I made the decision to protect the forum and upgrade.Now the forum has been upgraded, the usual Windows Forum theme you are used to seeing will not be available for a short while as it needs to be upgraded.
