Windows 7 back up

Has anyone tried this, is it as good as Acronis?.

I tried it on my Win 7 32 bit system out of curiosity.

I found it much slower than Acronis at taking a backup and I could not find a way to browse the backup files and restore selected ones. It's probably there but it escaped my notice. I did not try a restore - I chickened out.

I am biased however - I have used Acronis for years and am totally happy with it. Hence I would have been reluctant to change even if Win7 offered more features. Better the devil you know than one you don't.

In agreement with AlanHo.

I did make a comment about it back in December of last year.

"7 has got inbuilt disk imaging. I haven't looked at it, just as I didn't with Vista. Dont think it offers any compression though.

Not that interested really, Acronis or Macrium work fine."

On this machine Acronis takes about 20 minutes to complete a full backup.

After one and a half hours, I gave up with W7's own version.

As I have a netbook with W7 on it I thought I would give it a try as at the moment there is nothing valuable to loose from it.

So I did the back up then restored from it and although it does take longer to back up it is a credible alternative to Acronis.

It also gets you to do a boot disk the same as Acronis.
