doug
Having great difficuly activating my website. Am using Ace FTP as recommended in damo's tutorial. Have created a file called website in my C: folder on my HD. I logon using my name and password, ftp.plus.net and port 21. Things seem to happen but when I log on to my website it says I haven't uploaded a page yet. Where on earth do I start. Tried ringing the plus help desk and am told that everything seems OK. Perhaps I don't understand the language or something. How on earth do I start?
Guest LB
your main page should be index.html or index.htmi take it that the files show on your FTP program as having been uploaded.whats the web address and i will try it from my end? mark2
When connected you should see something similar to this, your website on the HD (on left)and the space on the web with the same folders in (on right)
Damo
Im with Plusnet Doug, When you upload (drag across) your files make sure you put them in the 'htdocs' folder...thats the folder plusnet give you for your website....once you've dragged them across you should be able to view them. Also, don't drag your Web folder across...just all the individual filesCheersDamo

First how can I use it to keep my signature up to date for this forum and include the jogger page?
Guest moon
Name your homepage index.htm , like LB suggests doug, and it should upload.EDIT: You can store your sig. at www.sighost.us for free and link to it if you don't want to use the WF site facility. doug
Where and how do I name it, on my c:website folder on on the actual website. And how?
Guest LB
on your design package you need to save the file that you want your visitors to see as index.html and then upload this to your webspace. This should be saved wherever on your hard drive and uploaded to the root directory of your webspace.
mark2
Doug go into your c/website folder and rename your 1st page, whatever it is presently ie home page to index and make sure it is saved as .htmlLB is quicker than me at this

Something less advanced than xxx for Dummies. Going off for the night Wife has had the first of her steroid drips so things will be iffy for the next few nights untill her system starts to settle. Also I want to get another trot in tomorrow before taking her back for the next drip. Thanks folks at least something happened. doug
Hey folks got something up and running at long last. Thanks for all your efforts LB. 'Tis only a simple thing at present BUT it's got my name on it. Will be adding to it of course. I'm bound to be back asking stupid questions because I've not been reading all the help suggestions around. Sorry for the pink border but that's what came about. Had to ignore the Ace-FTP software and use the plus wizard.
