Nothing like getting straight to the point.

Direct and to the point is often the most effective way.

Many years ago we lived in a bungalow on a small estate. Our next door neighbour below had a wire haired fox terrier . Being a modern estate of the time the fences between the gardens were purely decorative and this blasted dog preferred crapping in our garden and thus there was nothing to prevent it doing so.

For a short while I used to take a small coal shovel and heave the stuff back over the fence on to the neighbours lawn, but it made no difference. They were not interested.

Then I hit on a plan. At the factory where I earned my crust there was a product which was packed in a longish narrow polythene bag with a draw string at the top. So I acquired a box of these and once every few days I would go out and scoop up all the offerings and drop them into individual poly. bags, pull up the drawstrings and then hurl them across the next door garden so that they landed in the bushes at the far side. Most of them managed to hang by the drawstring and the sight was wondrous to behold.

After a couple of weeks or so of this the dog just simply disappeared without a word being spoken.

It sounds as though your neighbours got the message after all.
