MANEMAN
Thank you so very much for putting up with my " somewhat strange, behaviourial patterns" over the past few days. :) But......... I'm quite sure many people will have learnt a heck of lot about "Partitioning Hard Disks" - "Everyday is a learning day".(Bro.........It's kinda cool innit ? - You almost, sorta, wanna go off and partition everythin' off into different things innit ?)ansome, you are a gentleman and......... ( - andsome, I was gonna say scholar bro., - but such knowledge is way beyond my reach. :P ) - joking only. andsome you really are one of the good guys. (You talk a load of crap about Mahler and computers, but we'll have let that go, 'cos you're a really nice guy :) ) - Only joking ! (About you being one of the nice guys that is.) So nice to know that regular contributors to the forum do not break into "Flamewar" and can remain gentlemanly when provoked. Not only does it show breeding, but also a united stand against, EEDjuts, Spammers, and those who would wish to infiltrate, and bring a forum down, or control a forum for their very own known reasons. You may even think that "Vendetta" : ( http://forums.windowsforum.org/index.php?showtopic=45600 ) is being smart bringing up the subject of partitioning, after we have aired it fairly well. (Or on the other hand you may not. :) )We will have to dig around a bit and see. B)Vendetta ? - Well there is name that is not going to lead you up a blind alley if you try to trace it. :) John. catgate
Well it all seems very clear to me. I may not be the smartest artichoke on the record but my needle has never suffered from frostbite for more than 7 pence a pound. And yet....as I look across the last few days I get a very stiff neck from having to turn round so far.It just goes to show how things have changed since Mrs Dales Diary was taken out of the schedules. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
How dare you insult Mahler, the finest composer ever?Nobody is insulting Gustav Mahler. We could say that there are two kinds of people in this universe: those who understand Mahler, and those who have the misfortune not to! B.t.w. I was somewhat dismayed by your post (in the other topic) that you listen to Bernstein's Mahler recordings! In my (not so humble) opinion, Bernstein makes Mahler sound like a musical. Although I always liked his Westside Story, I think he shouldn't mess with Mahler! (Shouldn't have, that is...)In my (slightly more humble) opinion, the best Mahler recordings ever were done by Sir Georg Solti.
AlanHo
How dare you insult Mahler, the finest composer ever?Nobody is insulting Gustav Mahler. We could say that there are two kinds of people in this universe: those who understand Mahler, and those who have the misfortune not to! My life has been beset by misfortune after misfortune. Right from an early age misfortune has been a close companion.Once when lost as a child .. I saw a policeman and asked him to help me find my parents. I said to him. "Do you think we'll ever find them." He said “I don't know kid.. there are so many places they can hide."My mom didn't help - she once told me that when my father wanted sex, she would show him a picture of me.Later on during puberty I had a lot of pimples. One day I fell asleep in a library. I woke up to find a blind man reading my face. Now I'm an adult I find that it's tough to stay married. My wife kisses the dog on the lips…...yet she won't drink from my glass! This morning when I put on my under wear I could hear the Fruit of the Loom guys laughing at me.I'm a bad lover. I once caught a peeping tom booing me.My wife only has sex with me for a purpose. Last night she used me to time an egg.A hooker once told me she had a headache. So I went to massage parlor. It was self service. And now I'm told that because I do not enjoy Mahlers music - it is just misfortune. When will this torture stop................... For Mahler's second in my opinion, no one can beat Gilbert Kaplan. http://www.blogiversity.org/blogs/the__horn/archive/2008/12/06/gilbert-kaplan-s-obsession-with-gustav-mahler.aspx . I also have Solti conducting it. For his eighth I particularly like Klaus Tenstedt.. There are quite a few excellent recordings of the other Symphonies. I have his tenth conducted by Mark Wigglesworth. I know of no other recordings of this work, it was finalised by Deryck Cooke.:)
catgate
For Mahler's second .....Was Mahler's second a boy or a girl? These foreign names are very confusing sometimes.

ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
For his eighth I particularly like Klaus Tenstedt..I also have Tennstedt's version of the 8th, but I don't think I ever listened to it except just when I bought it. Too septic - too German, perhaps. I very much like Rafael Kubelik's version, but the recording quality is a bit low. (He also seems to be a bit of an a#$%hole, from what I hear from friends who live near his house.)
andsome
Pat. they don't know what they are missing. All they are interested in is wailing pop stars and people who think that strumming the strings of a guitar is actually PLAYING it.
MANEMAN
Well I never expected my rambling post to extend to such a lengthy thread. :) I have been away from the forum for a while. (The old fashioned electric shock treatment still preferable to the surgical intrusion of the full frontal lobotomy surgery) Apologies for late reply. You are all obviously a nice bunch of guys who can withstand a bit of leg pulling..=.=.=.=.=.=.=.=.=.=.=.=.=.=.=.=.=.=.=.=.=.=.=.=.=.=.=.=AlanHo. We live between Redruth and Falmouth, - Mawgan and surrounding district (Lizard Peninsula) was my old stomping grounds as a T.V. Engineer back in the 60's and 70's. I fully realise that holiday breaks are precious time, but if you would wish to spend an hour or so meeting up with us without it being a major intrusion on your vacation time, - let us try to arrange it !!!! ;) For obvious reasons, it is not a good idea to give out telephone numbers on an open forum, but if either one of us can arrange a "Personal Message" (PM) by means of this forum let's go for it.I am going to try to send one now and hope that you have not already started the journey.John.
