Windows 7 getting slow

When I’s using Windows-XP, everything was fine. Then after some days, I started using Windows-7 .Everything was sound too. But for installing Auto Cad, when I re-install Windows, I started facing some troubles.

1. My PC is taking too much time to start actually the OS.

2. It also taking a long time to shut down.

3. Now-a-days the start up tone is missing.

4. Most of the time a message appears saying that the Windows did not shut down properly. And options come like “Start windows normally” and so on.

5. Sometime, it says that “the device is using by an application” ,while I try to eject my Pen drive manually.

So, where’s the problem. As I’m a new user of Computer (about 4-5 months), I cann’t identify and fix it. Please do some help.

Thanks in advance.

normally,Windows 7 is slower then xp when start up,but it's convenient to use!

Depends on the computer. Mine is MUCH faster with Windows 7 than it was with XP. Total boot up is about one minute and ten seconds. But who cares, what is the hurry?

Lots of programs that we install on our machines will place themselves in Windows startup. This causes a power grab when the computer boots and can cause slowness or slugishness. In short,a slow startup.

It is unecessary for these programs to start at boot. They will start when we call on them.

If you know what processes and/or services aren't absolutely need at Windows startup, you can disable them completely or set the service(s) to Manual instead of Automatic startup.

This will indeed speed up the boot of your machine yo some extent.

A word of warning:If you do not know which processe or services you can safely disable or set to maual startup, create a complete disk image of your hard drive.Research what it is that is running on your machine and start slimming the boot process. Then uneeded/unused services. If something goes wrong while fiddlin' 'round and you can not seem to get it corrected, the disk image you have created will get you back to square one in no time and you can start again.

There is also the option to clean out the system, browser and programs of old temp files and other unused rubbish lying around.Clean out the garbage.

Possibly a defragmenting of the hard drive may help. Before a defrag,I always run chkdsk from an elevated command prompt so as to try to fix any errors (if they exist).

Please consider backups before you start messin' about. If you choose not to image your drive and forge ahead, there will be little that can be done from afar if things do go wrong.

Surely C Cleaner will clean out temp files? As for defragging, in all the years that I have had a computer, I have never run chkdsk before a defrag. My Diskeeper is set to defrag automatically and silently in the background as and when required, and it has NEVER caused any bother.

CCleaner is an exellent tool for cleaning up the garbage. When used responsibly.

I personally do not want anything running in the background.I know there are things there, but what do you do...?

I've already disabled the webcam driver and this machine doesn't even have a webcam.:0

That I know of....
