Windows registry

I believe it is accepted that a major cause of PCs running slowly and locking up etc is corrupt registry entries.

there are programs available at varying costs to fix problems, but since this is basically a Windows problem, why is there not a windows function to do do cleaning up ..

or have I missed something?

I would guess that all their little Do-Do's as you state ,need some sort of feedback from the public to bring it to their attention.

Have you actually approached Microsoft about your "Registry Concerns" yet? (TechNet) - ( Can you give us some sort of rollin' feedback on that one?)

If you are still there, discokid, the best way to restore your registry is to use a system back-up utility. Windows standard System back-up automatically copies the entire registry at the time the back up is made (as do many other 3rd party back-up and mirroring utilities). Registry cleaners only take out what their designers think should not be in the registry. They do not put back in what was previously there. Only a back-up, copy, restore, repair or re-install will do that.

Things seem to be unfolding nicely.

We may or may not have lost a new poster in the form of the "thediscokid"

But on the plus side, we have got "Dencandy" back in and posting.

Maybe all it will take now is a few more "Private Messages" (PM's) from staff, administration, and moderators to get a few of the old crew back on the team, and start pulling things back into line.

Depends on how much some people care I suppose.
