cinque8
Hi,When I type anything into a dialog box such as this one the letter "k" is automatically entered many times kkkkkkkkkkk and I have to delete it to complete a sentence. My first thought is that it must be some kind of virus, but I have scanned my computer with two different anti virus programs and they have turned up nothing. Anyone else having this problem?Thanks-cinque8
-pops-
Are you able to do a System Restore to a time before this started happening?
pawz7
could it simply be a stuck key?
AlanHo
Are you using a desktop or laptop computer. If desktop - can you try another keyboard.
cinque8
Even as I type this reply I am having this problem. I use a program that is better than System Restore called ERUNT http://larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/ I will try it today. As for the k key being stuck, I have pounded that key repeatedly, and blown compressed air under it but no luck. I am using a laptop, but as a last resort I can change the keyboard. Thanks for the replies!-cinque8
AlanHo
Does it only misbehave when typing into a dialog box? - what happens if you type text into Notepad or a word processor?
cinque8
In word or wordpad I don't have the problem. I ran System Restore and ERUNT but no luck. I have an older Dell Latitude D610. I took the keyboard out and sprayed it with compressed air, and as I am typing this I am not having the problem for the first time. So I will see what happens.Thanks!-cinque8
Scythe
If it's an issue with just dialogue boxes, try a different browser, you might be experiencing an odd bug. I suggest firefox.
cinque8
That's a good point! But since I blasted the keyboard with compressed air, the problem has stopped! I am being told that this problem is not all that unique for an older laptop like mine. I am running a Dell Latitude D610, a real clunker! :D Thanks!-cinque8
cinque8
BTW,I am kind of new around here, but I noticed a couple of references on this forum to the How-TO Geek forum. So I guess it is ok to say that it was VistaMike on the How-To Geek forum who told me that he has seen this before and offered two solutions: 1. Blast the keyboard with compressed air2. I am not making this up: brush the keypad with heated isopropyl alcohol.Uh...., not wanting to burn my house down I elected to go with the compressed air, but Mike swears that both methods work.-cinque8
Scythe
it's probably just a minor driver bug and some dying sensitivity in the receptors beneath the keys, then. Just my 2 cents.
