Dougal
Today I went to install my Vista distro for the umpteenth time. I mess around a lot with Operating systems and have finally decided to dump Windows once and for all. Why I hear you ask - well, I am fed up with the palaver of having to try to activate my license key every time I reinstall Vista. It is in my mind absolutely pathetic. To add fuel to the fire, when I tried to follow procedure the system couldn't find my Internet connection and here was I sitting with 'New Updates Detected' showing in the box and my anti-virus happily updating itself. How bad is that. So with no more ado I scrubbed Vista for the last time.I am totally converted to Ultimate Edition Linux now. It is everything that Windows could have been but, is not.it has great Desktop integration with programs and wonderful effects that make using the system a delight.I use Windows 7 at work because I have to use some Corporate software that has been written for Windows but, it doesn't stop me from dual-booting and popping into Linux now and then. It is nice too because Linux picks up and uses my sound card to full effect. I did not notice till I went into Linux that there was much more body to the sound than I ever get with Windows. Our HP printer at work has no problems being detected in Linux but, Windows 7 does not like it and does not allow the tools software to run which also controls the print head cleaning and alignment. I have had to load the software onto a laptop to get this done before allowing Win 7 to print...So, this is my rant - Microsoft Windows sucks in general. They are behind the times when it comes to finess and ease of detecting peripherals.Don't get me wrong, Linux is not perfect but, it is easier to live with and easier on the eyes too. So much can be changed to suit oneself without having to pay a penny either. What's next for me? Well my next computer won't have Windows that's for sure. I just don't need it!Thanks for taking time to read this and I hope you have found it interesting.
andsome
To be honest, WHO CARES? We all have our likes and dislikes. Many on here don't like certain programs etc, but it is a matter of personal choice. I don't like Norton in common with many on here, but apart from advising people who have had problems with it to try something else, that is as far as it goes. You have had your rant, and some may agree with you, but it seems to me as though most of your problems are of your own making. Personally I get on fine with Windows, complete with Windows 7 and I.E.9. I had a look at Linux once and decided against it, as I have with Fire Fox and thunder Bird, but I don't rant about it. You have paid for Vista, so must expect Microsoft to take precautions against fraud, hence the registration that you find to be such a chore. Personally, I keep mirror images in ACRONIS on a plug in hard drive, so can mess about as much as I desire without any long term bother, just thirty minutes or so to install a mirror image previously saved.B) B) B) B)

I would love to test drive this hybrid.B)
