doug Posted January 28, 2012 Report Share Posted January 28, 2012 Try tapping F8 as soon as you switch on. This should then present you with a text based menue with many options. click on the start Windows normally. this should work 9/10 times. If it does make a back-up of everything, especially the valuables files, If you can' get this far then you will need to roll back you OS to an earlier known good configuration. Follow the above F8 method and this time choosed Safe Mode. don't use the Safe Mode with Internet option just yet - that will let you access the internet but is a diverion at the moment. when you get the Safe mode operational go to control panel/System & Security/Back up and restore. Choose the Restore option and select the last known good configuration. Again if successful do a proper backup, Good Luck. Been there myself a few times. AceInfinity Posted January 29, 2012 Report Share Posted January 29, 2012 You're desktop disappeared? Try using Ctrl+Alt+Delete and open up an instance of Task Manager.
