"This Tab has been recovered " message

This problem can occur due to one or more non-Microsoft add-ons running with IE.

To see what is causing it :-

Start IE in No Add-ons mode by clicking

Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).

If your problem doesn’t occur in No Add-ons mode, you could then use Add-on Manager to disable all add-ons and then turn them on one by one until the problem reoccurs.

This would then let you establish which specific add-on (or more than one) is causing the problem.

To open Add-on Manager, take the following steps:

Open IE by clicking the Start button and then clicking Internet Explorer.

Click the Tools button, and then click Manage Add-ons.

In IE 8, you can disable toolbars by clicking the X on the side of the toolbar.

If there are any add-ons associated with the toolbar, a dialog box will then appear where you can either keep or disable the additional add-ons.

Boris,

Thanks, following your advise I opened IE without add ons, & got straight into the Windows Forum with no problem.

But on then navigating to a specific area of the forum I again got the "Tab to be recovered" message.

Do you think that this means that an Add on is causing the problem or is it another reason?

Also I do not get e mails to state that there are replies to my question, even though the box says I am following this topic, is this another problem or connected?

Try a cleanup of your system using cCleaner http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner to remove unwanted program residues and files.

Before using the program read up about it to ensure you are aware of what it does and make a backup of your system as it is at present.

Bludgard,

Many thanks, I have checked & SP3 is installed, as are all XP updates.

JAVA is installed, version 6.0.310 which I think is the latest version.

Can't find "Flash" on the Installed Programs list or on the Java site, could you please advise.

Problem still occurs!

Pops,

Thanks, checked it & I have the latest version.

So it looks as if I have everything installed with the latest version that I should have.

But I stll have the blasted problem on this site only.

Unless anymore advise is forthcoming I will have to use Firfox when going into this Forum.
