johnoo
I have created a Backup using the Software within a Seagate External drive.I now wish to delete this from the External drive. If I click right on the Backup folder within the drive & then click Delete, I get a message that says that file names are too long for the Recycle bin & the Back up does not delete.Where am I going wrong? johnoo
Doug,Thanks, tried that but I still get the message "The file name you specified is not valid or too long specify different file name", & the file will not delete!
doug
Hmmm that's a puzzle. I find that with W7, and I think previous versions, the delete key sends things straight to the recycle bin. But holding down the shift ket while pressing the delete key "stuff" just gets deleted. You will have to wait for better men, or women (Irene) than me. Orf in the morning for a week so will look in next Sun/Mon to see if you have a solution. Good luck.

-pops-
If there is nothing on the drive that you want to retain, the best thing to do would be a reformat. When I've installed an external drive I always format to remove any included software. It usually isn't very good and not what I've bought the drive for
