maiduguri
I tried to install an urgent Windows update [iE9 for w7x64-based systems] but got error code 80070002. Tried to fix problem with Microsoft Fix It, but all it did was to change the error code to 80246007 the next time I tried to install the update. Any thoughts on how to rectify this? OldSchool1948
I have the same problem. The following updates fail everytime I try:KB2658846KB2676562KB2667402KB2695962KB2709715KB2685939KB2722913KB2656373KB2731847I'm somewhat technical, and have tried every "fix it" option I've found on the various boards and MS forums. I have Windows 7 x64 Ultimate (an upgrade from Vista x64 Ultimate). I downloaded the updrade, I don't have any discs, so I cannot do a "repair." I've tried to uninstall SP1, but cannot. I've been struggling with this issue for over a month and I'm at my wits end. Of course, I'm trying to avoid rebuilding the OS from scratch. I thought of waiting for Windows 8 and doing an upgrade, but I'm not too thrilled with the interface. MS finally got it right with Windows 7, and IMHO are making a big mistake with Windows 8. -pops-
Sometimes malware is responsible for erratic behaviour in updating. I would be wise to carry out an on-line malware scan such as Housecall http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
bludgard
... Also check that the BIOS /system times are set correctly.
OldSchool1948
BIOS was fine. So, -pops-, are you saying that TrendMicro provides more protection than Norton 360? I've always kept my virus, malware, etc., protection up to date.
