andsome
We have been account holders at HSBC, formerly The Midland Bank for over fifty years. We have finally seen the light, and are in the process of moving our affairs to the Co-op bank. It has proved to be a very simple and painless process, with the bank doing all the work. They have contacted HSBC and obtained a list of all direct debits, and have contacted all those concerns to transfer by the 10th October. We phoned our private pension providers, and the state pensions people and they have transferred our pensions without any bother at all.HSBC dragged closer to heart of Libor investigation - TelegraphHSBC's best-paid executives named | Business | guardian.co.ukBBC News - HSBC money laundering report: Key findingsEnough is enough. -pops-
I am with Lloyds TSB and I'm pleased that the transfer to the Coop is being done for me courtesy of the FSA (or whatever).
Gandalph
I'm with Barclays, not the best of all of them but I only use them to have my State Pension and Private Pensions paid into. I then use online banking to transfer any residue to the Newcastle Building Society where I am guaranteed a decent rate of interest. The only reason I don't have my pensions paid into them is because they do not do debit cards which would mean me having to travel to Berwick every Thursday to draw money out. Where as things are, I can draw money here in Duns with my Barclay Debit card from a Lynk ATM and pay what I have to without the hassle.I warned Barclays a couple of years ago that they should consider paying Bank of England base rate interest or they would lose my account and they just took a 'couldn't care less' attitude. When I told them I was withrawing my cash and putting it somewhere where I would get a decent rate of interest, they were all over me like Flies around a pile of Cowpat.
