Also for you to consider when you have answered Pat's question:

Run a scan for malware in "Safe Mode" and then...................

Don't overlook doing a basic System Restore to correct problems.

Maybe you could revert to a previous image of a Disk Image backup that you made ?

If all else fails and you didn't have the foresight to image your operating system. - Re-install windows.
