MANEMAN
Nice find Alan. Keeping spam out is an admin nightmare. (I would think.)At least spammers are usually easily recognisable by the links. - No so the trolls and timewasters. The problem with trolls and timewasters is that you can mistakenly start to insult someone who has genuine learning difficulties, which can be in many differing areas.Trolls and timewasters, do also themselves of course fall into the category of "Learning Difficulties", but with such timewasters we now start to enter into the sub-categories of malignancy, malevolence, and the sociopathic character. ( Not only classed as a learning difficulty, but also of course, a serious mental problem. )Not too hard to turn the tables and change a negative into a positive though. Many people visit forums neither to interact or contribute. They come to solve a problem, read the posts, and hopefully learn something. It is not too much of an effort then to turn even the most ridiculous and cryptic of questions into an answer that can be a learning pathway for someone else. The posters original objective of course, - "Zeroed Out."He / she has unwittingly been the catalyst for returning something to society. The list of course goes on and on. --The poster who asks a question and then answers it him/herself under a different name. The poster who is genuinely knowledgeable in his field, and just wants to challenge his knowledge against yours, or "Grandstand" his intellect and prowess. The poster who "thinks" :) he has found your Achilles Heel and tries to draw you into an argument.( I think this old Chestnut is getting a bit worn out on BSOD's perhaps ?)The poster who starts to answer posts made months or even years ago.All I should think could be classified well below which we think of as the " Mental Norm." because each and every one of them has a social "Learning Difficulty."Spammers are merely capitalists trying to earn a bob or two (Millions ?) - "They are a complete pain but at least you know their game" without resorting to psychological profiling. :lol:John. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
http://www.stopforumspam.com/To the best of my knowledge, this forum is connected to stopforumspam.com; once a spammer's email or IP address is registered with them, it will never be able to sign up or sign in to this forum. And once a user is identified as a spammer in this forum, its email and IP address will be automatically registered at stopforumspam.com
Craig
Pat is correct. We are also connected to the Honey Pot!
AlanHo
Thank you for the information. I therefore assume that the spammers we attract are not registered with the anti spam sites (until you do it presumably).
