Yad
Hi there, I put together a system recently and have had errors since installing windows 7 onto the computerMy Build is;i5 3570KCorsair Vengeance 8gb 1600mhzSeagate Barracuda 1TB Nvidia GTX 660Now the Bsods' I've been having recently are:Driver IRQL not less or equalPagefault in non paged areaKernel Security check failureAll of these were read off of Who Crashed on Windows 8 and were the same errors I was getting on Windows 7The BSODS happen at very random times, it's so odd infact that I can run CPU intensive applications like Prime 95 for hours on end just fine but then If I open up a browser and watch a video or something really basic, I'll end up with one of these errors. Even gaming doesn't give any BSODS, just happens at random times.I would really appreciate any help at all because I saved up for a fairly long time to build this computer and it's a tad annoying that I can't get it to work properly. Thanks very much,Yad
MANEMAN
Welcome. What is it that is causing these BSOD's ? - You forgot to mention that.
Yad
From who crashed, I'm being told that it's the usbport.sys drivers for irql and kernel is being caused by ntoskrnl.I can't find anything for page fault in non paged area as I just did a fresh install of Windows 8 last night and haven't had that BSOD yet
MANEMAN
Well, fingers crossed that the fault was just software and not hardware then.If you get any further problems with BSOD's, run through the analysis guide which you can find here: http://forums.window...showtopic=50454The reasons for BSOD's can be wide and varied, so it is neccesary to do a really good analysis, even at times doing an uninstall of applications whilst in Safe Mode if there are DLL conflicts present in the operating system.Safe MSI will allow you to uninstall programs in Safe Mode.If the problem turns out to be hardware, then it is back to the drawing board for your computer build I'm afraid. :(
Yad
No. I've had those three errors since last night. Is it possible that it's a hard drive fault as windows says its found a problem with my drive
Alan2273
If there are faults on your hard drive, it is time to make a full back up and replace it.Go to this site and download the diagnostic tools and run them on your drive./>http://www.seagate.com/support/internal-hard-drives/enterprise-hard-drives/savvio-15k/discwizard-master-dl/I am not sure if this still applies but Seagate tools used to include a free cut down copy of Acronis which allowed you to back up your drives to another internal or external drive. Yad
Checked my drive using the Seatools application, seems to be fine, although I've only done short tests on it so far.I also just had the following BSODs:crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\022313-14625-01.dmpThis was probably caused by the following module: ntoskrnl.exe (nt+0x7A040)Bugcheck code: 0x109 (0xA3A039D898D467E5, 0x0, 0xB40B5AF99EED630A, 0x101)Error: CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTIONfile path: C:\Windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exeproduct: Microsoft® Windows® Operating Systemcompany: Microsoft Corporationdescription: NT Kernel & SystemBug check description: This indicates that the kernel has detected critical kernel code or data corruption. This might be a case of memory corruption. Yad
I just went and did a reinstall of windows 8 on another hard drive and within seconds of the first log in, I got irql not less or equal. There was a problem with the NTOSKRNL which caused the earlier ones too. I've also downloaded driver scanner which tells me all my drivers are up to date so it's not a driver afaik causing the ntoskrnl issue. So what now? ram change or memtest for a longer period of time? Alan2273
There are numerous errors for kernel corruption, download and run the program below that will isolate the exact file that is causing the problem which should enable you to check on Google and narrow your search for the problem./>http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html
Yad
I get hal.dll and I've searched it and there's not much about it, what can I do from here?
MANEMAN
If you are now saying that you do not have the confidence to carry on with the analysis, or from the statement made in your recent post that you are completely lost, and do not understand how to follow the analysis techniques, it sort of implies that you have not completely followed or fully understood the guide. It may be time to hand the computer over to someone more adept at dealing with fault finding in this particular area. No shame in physically building a computer and having to say that the theoretical side of computers is a little beyond your range.
Yad
I have the confidence, my issue is that I'm running the same copy of windows on my laptop and it hasn't had a problem at all whereas with multiple installs on my desktop, I keep getting BSODS, so would that not indicate it's a hardware fault? Irene
Have you tried running the memory diagnostics tool?http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/UploadFile/6cde20/memory-diagnostics-tool-in-windows-8-consumer-preview/
Yad
Windows memory diagnostic says no faultsI've disabled Intel Turbo boost in BIOS and I've not had a bsod in the last couple hours which for me is pretty stable XD
Yad
Ran 6 passes of MEMTEST and no errors with RAM, had another BSOD this time with the error USBEHCI.SYS Would it be possible for someone to help me out if I uploaded my mini dumps? MANEMAN
Would it be possible for someone to help me out if I uploaded my mini dumps? Upload them and see if you get any takers. You lack the confidence to diagnose the fault yourself, and now realise you need someone else to do it for you. In my opinion the usual outcome in these type of situations is a lengthy thread where nobody gets any satisfaction and tempers get frayed. - But there again,............. I could be wrong. Alan2273
Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 allows the processor to operate at a power level that is higher than its rated upper power limit (TDP) for short durations to maximize performance. You may have hit the nail on the head by disabling ITBT. What HSF are you using?. It might be an overheating problem, check the heatsink and fan. Yad
It's a standard heatsink and fan. Using real temp, my temps are about 29 at idle and 58 max on prime
bludgard
How does this machine run in Safe Mode?
Yad
I will run it in safe mode later on today and report back
Yad
I ran it in safe mode and opened about 80 tabs of the Watchdogs gameplay/trailer thing. Not a single BSOD, booted back into windows, did the same, not a single BSOD yet! It got really laggy and I turned it off but no BSODS which is great. I think the problem must have been intel turbo boost because that's the last thing I disabled after intel speedstep. I'll run this setup for a bit and report back if the BSODS come back THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR THE HELP! I'd have been losing it right now if I hadn't had your assistance so thank you very very much
