johnoo
Johnoo, if the problem persists, could you perhaps try removing CCleaner with Revo Uninstaller Free: http://download.cnet.com/Revo-Uninstaller/3000-2096_4-10687648.html . Use the search for all other files etc towards the end of the process. Then, download the latest version of CCleaner from here: http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner using the link on the upper right corner in the link - version 4.05.4250 Next do all the things which you have done during your trials and wait and see. Irene, Thanks but I already have downloaded the latest version 4.05.4250 I will tonight do a normal shutdown, after running CC & see what happens on start up tomorrow. If the problem continues I may miss a night of running CC but then after that run it at start up. Might sound stupid but it may work! johnoo
On waking this morning had a stiff drink before switching on just in case I had problems again, yes it's getting at me!But on switch on all the locations I had set have been maintained. The only thing I did not do last night was to log out of e mail, will do this tonight just to make sure this is not causing the problem. Thanks to all for your help & concern on this subject, hope I can close it out

bludgard
Hi Bludgard & thanks for your interest. I run AVG 2013 free .... Maybe AVG is cleaning cookies on shutdown/startup? Maybe try disabling this feature? MBAM will clean cookies as well when run @ default setting....

So think that rules AVG out. I looked at the AVG User Manual & there is no other reference to Cookies Still looking for a solution. Tonight I will not log out of e mail & see what happens tomorrow. johnoo
Perhaps a interesting development.Last night did not log out of e mail, but ran CC.This morning at switch on locations had been maintained.Could it be that the mail program (BT Yahoo) is causing the problem? johnoo
Perhaps a interesting development. Last night did not log out of e mail, but ran CC. This morning at switch on locations had been maintained. Could it be that the mail program (BT Yahoo) is causing the problem?I spoke too soon. Last night, shut down without logging out of mail. Ran CC This morning I had lost again the locations I wanted to be maintained. Any advise/help?
-pops-
Do you have a particular need or affection for BTYahoo? I gave up with their pestilential email system about a day after I installed it. It may have improved but I'm not willing to give it another go. I now use Thunderbird after a long period with Outlook and I am quite happy with that - and I don't have the difficulties you're having! johnoo
Pops,Thanks, I want to keep with BTYahoo mainly because I'm used to it!But I now don't think it's causing the fault.I have gone back to basics & just set the Cookies I want to keep in CCBut sometimes they are maintained & other times they are not.I think also I have changed all of the settings within IE "Delete Browsing History" Sounds stupid I know but my next plan is to run CC at start up (having missed out on the close down run) & see if that works. This is really getting to me

This is really getting to me I have now been running C Cleaner at start up in the morning rather than close down at night & have found that the problem is partly cured. By doing this the BBC & Google map locations are maintained but I still lose the log in for Trip Advisor. Please note that the "cookies" for Trip Advisor have been set in C Cleaner to be maintained Any ideas why this is & why the difference between running at shut down & start up? -pops-
Does your computer acquire so much rubbish that it needs Ccleaner to be run every day? I run that program once a week - when I run the weekly maintenance.
