Belatucadrus Posted January 15, 2015 Report Share Posted January 15, 2015 Managed it quite neatly, the old vacuum started to get really noisy so I cleaned it out cleared the filters all the usual, no deal. Decide it's the drive spindle from the motor so I spray it with WD40, failing to remember the volatile nature of WD40 in a confined space I try again now I suspect knackered brushes or a damaged commutator. Not surprisingly it sparked, ignited the vapour made a most impressive bang and did the vacuum no good at all, took ages to clear the smell.So now we have a cheap new Vax Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I think that's why it did so much damage, the filter was toast and it literally blew the dust cylinder off its mount. When I tried it after it worked, but there was dust and fluff blowing out of places where the designers clearly never intended it to go. Still have to spend in the end. For example - the back door lock has been playing up for ages - he's had it out of the door numerous times. A couple of weeks ago the lock refused to play anymore.
