You'd need one hellish long line, they live way way down in the inky depths.



They look even worse when hauled out of the water because in common with most deep sea fish they move slowly to conserve energy, their bodies are quite flabby and lose shape when seen without water to support them. The point of the mouth seems to be it allows the fish to lunge forward without expending the energy necessary to shift its whole body.


With the mouth in the normal configuration it's more obviously a shark, hardly a looker but much more recognisable.
