Belatucadrus
This week end I watched a Japanese TV broadcast on the internet and it prompted nostalgic musings on the face of technology can you remember ( this is rhetorical you can ) when ? : There was no Internet when you wanted to learn something you had to go to the library find a book and read it. No 24 Hour TV, two channels black and white and much of the time all you got was the test card. You had to spend time twiddling two inconveniently placed knobs on the back to stop the picture scrolling. When you turned it off you'd watch the picture shrink then wait for the little white dot in the middle to vanish. Films were watched at the local flea pit or once a week on TV and not with a 50" stereo widescreen, the choice was limited to Watch or go do something else. Telephones were outside in red boxes, private ones in houses were a rarity. Central heating what's that ? You got gobby with a teacher they'd tan your backside and mum and dad wouldn't call for the law they'd tow you home by the ear and do it again. If you wanted to hear any new music you headed down to Smiths or wherever and stood in a booth while they played it for you, if they'd got it that is. If you had a car the heater was an optional extra, multi zone Climate control not even a dream. Porn was a What the butler saw machine at the amusement arcade.
