Whether a program is necessary to the system, or is the program a spyware. Scans all programs that are in the Windows Startup Folder, Registry and provide you with a background information of the program. Remove harmful programs like spyware, virus, dialers, make your system healthier. Remove unnecessary programs like reminders, monitors, improve your systems performance. Boris Posted November 23, 2003 Author Report Share Posted November 23, 2003 Discovered that you need to be on-line for the "consult" feature to work !I think the startup program info seems to come from Pacs Portal ?http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_content.phpThe good thing is that it checks all the startup progs at once - saving you the problem of doing each one individually :D It found all my "common" starting apps, but didn't know 5 others - which I expected as they are all reasonably obscure.It rates them as well 0 - 4 for required.Initial screen is loaded offset to the right, and no help included in it yet - but it's fairly intuitive and the guy behind it has threads in his forum for spelling mistakes / bugs / improvements.I think its one to watch ? - 7/10 as it stands currently. Boris Posted November 27, 2003 Author Report Share Posted November 27, 2003 WSI is now up to version 2.05BetaNicer graphical interface, bug fixes, additional features - you can send them details of any of your startup apps which it doesn't recognise (if you're sure what they are ! :D )Definitely improving.If you D/L the new version, uninstall the old one before you instal 2.05 as some of the .dll's are no longer used.
