There are at least two interpretations of this term.1- We vote for persons to represent us.2- Our system represents a democracy, but in fact isn't one. Both of these are true and, in truly democratic terms, both are bad. We do not live under a democracy, we live under a representative democracy. They are not the same thing. Under a democracy we would each have an equal say in any decision making. This we do not have. However, computers will bring true democracy back. The democracy of the Ancients worked because there were very few hands to count. It deteriorated into representative democracy as populations grew. Computers will simplify it all again.
