andsome Posted January 26, 2004 Report Share Posted January 26, 2004 I started off with the NTL slowest broadband, 128KB, and as DJohn has said the fact that you don't have to wait for the connection to dial up is great. As soon as you click on Internet Explorer, you are connected in the time it takes the page to open. I have now gone on to 600KB, and it is absolutely superb. After a time, you forget how slow dial up is until you use someone else's computer. Go for it.If you make Google your home page, it opens instantaneously. NTL home page was a hemorrhoid. The connection is only £25 too.I figure at £5 a month more than I pay now, the advantages far outweigh the extra money. :) I just wanted another opinion - Thanks chaps. I would guess it's more than the minimum though.well the cost is £10 minimum with 0.025p added for each MB after 200mb to a £23.99 exc vat maximum for 5796 MB and over, I didn't know what I would download either and was really surprised when I got the bill for £14.65 (not £14.94) I was expecting it to be more, especially when you think some companies are charging more for dialup, as you can see below I downloaded 1.16 GB data over a 30 day period, during this time I downloaded quite a lot of music as well as my normal surfing and emails, but if it ever gets to the case that I am regularly going over the max amount where the max price of £23.99 price cuts in then I may reconsider and go to someone who maybe has a fixed monthly rate, it's only a 3 month contract you have with them. Whoever you go with you will be glad you did, the difference between dialup and BB is night and day and well worth the extra you have to pay (even just for having your phone free)Data transfer PayGoDSL 1.16 GB between 22 Dec 2003 and 21 Jan 2004 £12.47 Subtotal £12.47 VAT @ 17.5% £2.18 Total £14.65 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
