I think California has to be our favourite, even though it's full of Californians.

I can't say I'm all that fond of the place. My brother lives in a small place called Three Rivers - not far from Fresno - He was in Sacremento before that. I could never get used to the lack of people walking about - Not fond of the extreme heat either.........and Los Angeles felt a very menacing place at night!

He's been there for about 30 years, so must have some appeal.

My daughter lived in Santa Cruz for two or three years, our little Zoe was born there. It was a lovely place. We loved San Francisco. We once hired a car and drove up through San Francisco, and through The Valley of the Giants. We saw the tallest redwood in the world, and also the longest, that was the tallest until it fell down. We spent three nights one year in Yosemite National Park staying in a little log cabin. Another time we drove all the way down the coast road, but turned inland to avoid Santa Monica. As we drove along the freeway through Los Angeles, we saw nothing to tempt us into the place. That evening we stayed with some friends in Oceanside, and next day drove into the Mohave desert. After spending the night in a small desert township we drove back to Santa Cruz. We have many happy memories of the place, and everyone made us so very welcome. Our only complaint about the people was that they were over gushing, and it was difficult to tell how genuine they were, although as I said they did make us very welcome.

You two make me feel quite jealous, never been out of the country  :(

Not unless you can count the Isle of White (went there on a school trip!)

We got a lot of travelling out of our sytem some years ago - don't feel the need since we moved here to Dorset - Beautiful place! I think we get the best of the weather too. :)
