I found Zone Alarm too intrusive. May be it was me not used to it but I didn't like the "building site" type black an yellow either.

Once Outpost is set up it does its job quietly and unobtrusively.

yeah Redhat i agree with you it is a personal opinion and i use Mcafree i have it on a disk (which i got with a pc magazine) and ill pass it on if you want it

As pointed out, it is really a personal matter for firewalls.

I have been through several stages of firewall deployment, ranging from 3 seperate applications running side by side (that was a pain to get working) up to my current setup which involves Border Manager running on a dedicated machine behind a netgear router. But that is hardly what can be deemed a personal firewall.

If I need to reccommend a setup for home use, it is normally a combination of Zone Alarm and Norton Personal Firewall 2002 (fully patched and updated of course). I do not like the interface of newer Norton Firewalls.
