doug Posted March 16, 2004 Report Share Posted March 16, 2004 I'm running Win XP Pro, with Ahead Nero 5.5.10.56 together with an Acer 24x10x40 CDRW, installed as the master on the secondary drive. I have an LG DVD-ROM DRD-840B installed as the slave on that drive. I can read all the CD's with the DVD player but not on the CDRW. I can't copy from the DVD to the CDRW. I've tried running the CD drive tool on the CDRW and get a logical block address out of range (052100) message. For other CD's I get Illegal Mode for this track (056400). I've tried swapping the slave/,aster with no success. Removing the DVD player makes no difference. DMA is enabled for Both drives. I've removed and re-installed the nero software together with the nero clean up tool. Using disk and drive cleaners had no affect. Any suggestions? doug Posted March 16, 2004 Author Report Share Posted March 16, 2004 No but I'll give it a go.Edit, thinking about the things I tried, when I swaooed the master and slave jumpers I also swapped the drives into the opposite drive bays. As a consequence I also swapped thier position on the drive cable. The problem physically moved with the drives. I might also add that my No.1 son-in-law can read these disks with no problem. Agent Smith Posted March 17, 2004 Report Share Posted March 17, 2004 Doug, I don't know if this may help, but I had a similar issue with some Mitsumi drives at work a few months ago. Quite by accident, it was discovered that they worked perfectly whith a slightly older version of Nero.I am not at work at the moment, so I cannot check the exact version. If you are unable to find a download for a previous version, let me know and I will sort out one for you. (I have several versions at work, so can upload to my webspace and give you a link).One other possibility is to see if LG have an updated firmware for the drive.Regards. Mr. M.
