-pops- Posted March 21, 2004 Report Share Posted March 21, 2004 Hmmmmm................I remember a previous "end to the keyboard" innovation - the "speech to text" and "control your computer by voice" which came to be known as IBM "Via-Voice" and Dragon's "Naturally Speaking" amongst others.How many computer users have those installed? How many actually use them in preference to a keyboard? Very few I would wager and I see this new idea going the same way or perhaps disappearing althogether before being marketed.An ordinary "tap it" keyboard is a convenient, easy and CHEAP method of communicating with a computer. Laser projected virtual keyboards and infra red beam sensors is not what a keyboard is about. The prospect of long sessions battering away at a virtual keyboard on a rigid surface doesn't appeal.
