Having seen the 999 call centre for the Ambulance service having to resort to mobile phone indicates the scale of the problem. I very much doubt all the communication cables in Manchester run through one point but this must have caused massive disruption.It goes to show how much we depend on communication in this way for so many day-to-day things. Perhaps the BBC should do a show "What if the phone goes dead..."Now that has much more realism to it compared to some of the things they have been predicting will happen.
