A ride through Chernobyl (The Ghost Town)

I remember meeting a group of Chernobyl children who were on a goodwill visit to England in 1992 (ish). Some of them showed obvious effects of the radiation they had received. Some looked quite normal. All of them are most likely now dead.

I gave them a tour round the place I worked at the time and we then gave a small party. At the end, one boy stood up and, in extremely fractured English, thanked me for being so kind and gave me a traditional hand woven shawl from their region as a small present.

The shawl is at the side of me now in a frame. It is a constant reminder of that occasion and I am getting quite emotional just writing this.
