Boris
My 3 month old Sony CRX225E 52x24x32 CD/RW has just stopped in the middle of burning a CD. It still seems to read CDs OK. I'm using Nero 6.3.1.6. and 48x CD-Rs but only burning at 16x.Event Viewer reports lots of :-The device, \Device\CdRom0, has a bad block. messages every 7 seconds. The Help + Support Center gives the following "help"Explanation The device has a bad block of memory, which Windows attempted to read. The data might be missing or corrupted. User Action Do one or all of the following:Retry the operation.Clean the physical hard drive.Use newer media.I've tried a CD Lens Cleaner on it - nothing. Any advice ???????

Agent Smith
Boris, what brand of discs are you using? It is possible that the drive just dosn't like them. You could try a different brand, but I am thinking that powerless is probably correct :( I think that the drive needs to be replaced under warranty.Mr. M. I think (according to the sticker). It was given me as a "thankyou" by someone when I major upgraded their PC (they had received it as an unwanted Xmas present but they didn't want it as they had already bought a DVD writer for the upgrade). They've since moved away unfortunately !Is it something Nero related ?????Correction - just written another completely different image file OK from the H/D
