The Independent

Members of the rail network's biggest union would cause "maximum disruption" in nationwide strikes which could start next month, its hard-left leader said yesterday.

In an interview with The Independent, Bob Crow, the general secretary of the RMT union, predicted that his 7,000 members at the infrastructure organisation Network Rail would give a clear mandate for industrial action in a ballot scheduled to begin this week.

Oh for chrissake ....

It's actually cheaper on most journey's to travel by car. If the car has more than one person in it it is even cheaper still. My daughter was quoted over £80 for a journey that cost less than £12 by coach, so WHO CARES?

- - and, if you're travelling a long distance, it's an awful lot cheaper to fly.

A lot of these strike mongers would do well to give a moment's thought to their proposed actions. Some dire things have happened in the past to militant unions hell bent on causing unreasonable disruption.

In today's society, I doubt whether the populace would tolerate being held to ransom in the way that massive strikes dictate.

'Er indoors has unfortunately developed a fear of flying over the years. I think she believes I might shove her out of the window.

There is one journy I do that could be done using public transport.

It involves two 20 minutes walks (1.5 miles each) and three trains and 1 bus. Total time is in exces of 3 hours. Cost is in the region of £15.

That same journey by car takes 55 minutes and is an enjoyable drive.

There is hardly a choice to be made. They don't need to strike to cause disruption they do that already.

I care andsom cause I commute by train every day , and its not cheaper by car , once you add the daily congestion charge and £14 parking per day or your car is towed ...there is no option ...!

You have my sympathies living in that over populated part of the country. Emigrate to sunny Staffordshire.
