Chris
Michael Parkinson, the chat show host, has sensationally quit the BBC and defected to ITV, he announced today. The veteran presenter made the move after BBC bosses tried to shunt his talk show into a different slot to make way for the return of Match Of The Day."I’m very sorry to leave the BBC, of course I am," he said. "I have spent 20-odd years of my working life with the BBC and I don’t turn my back on that lightly. "But when the BBC brought back Match of the Day, effectively my spot had gone. When they bought the Premiership, they sold my playing field."More | Here
-pops-
Michael Parkinson deserves a place in the history of television as the original totally talentless TV personality. His ilk has spawned a whole raft of clones and these days it is difficult to switch your set on without seeing one.Parkinson's only talent, if he has any at all, is the ability to read inane questions from either a very carefully rehearsed, prepared script or from an autocue and respond to any unprepared, unrehearsed replies via instructions through an earpiece. Oh, and a suitably distinctive voice is a help. His type of show is responsible for the massive increase in the worship of the "celebrity" - another collection of talentless people who have achieved fame by doing not a lot more than appearing on shows like Parkinson and people who are trying to revive a flagged or flagging career in showbusiness or the public eye in other areas. People of the type as Tara Parker Tomlinson, the witless Jordan and other freaks (natural or augmented), Victoria Beckham, Anne Widdecombe, - - - - - Cynical? Moi?? Never :)
AlanHo
How dare you refer to Anne Widdecombe as a freak. This is insulting to us freaks of the World. In all other respects I totally agree with your posting. I too hate this current climate of so called celebrity worship and how to become a celebrity in the eyes of the moronic masses. You can even get invited to attend the BAFTA's and appear on countless chat shows by claiming to be bi-sexual and having had a fling with a famous footballer. andsome
I agree with Alan and Pops. HOWEVER, is this also just another sign that EVERY MORTAL THING, has to make way for football.

This is insulting to us freaks of the World.:D :D :D :D I didn't intend Ms Widdecombe to be one of the list of freaks - that was meant to be Jordan only but, as the others fit so well into that definition, I'll leave it at that :)
