  1. If you have two machines that both are at least Windows Vista, follow these steps: 1. Connect the two computers so that they are seen on the network 2. Open a command prompt 3. Type: mklink /d /j C:\Users\(Name) C:\ *Replace (Name) with whatever you want and substitute both "C"s with the drive you want to see 4. Use the other machine 5. Open Windows Explorer 6. Click Network (on the left) 7. Open the computer with the (Name) folder 8. Open the "Users" folder 9. Open the (Name) folder (you now have access to another machine's folders and files) Typically, you can only see the "Users" folder of the other computer linked to your network. 4. So I have this old emachines computer that has system32 errors and won't boot.. So I put in the windows xp install cd in there and the booting process just continues as if the cd isn't even in there.. I put the windows xp cd in my primary computer and it recognized it so it's not the cd. I put the windows 7 install cd in the emachines computer and it recognized it so that means the cd drive works. I am totally stumped as to why the computer won't boot the disc. Thanks for help in advance! Henry
  5. hi im trying to make my own computer for the first time. my budget is around £400, the PC that im trying to achieve would be mainly use for gaming purposes such as running Diablo3 and World of Warcraft. after long hours of planning and searching the web i came up with this spec: http://pcpartpicker.com/uk/p/8H1x and this would be the case for it and PSU: http://www.ebuyer.co...-rc-330-kkpl-gp there are few things i would like to know: 1. are they all compatible? will they work well? 2. shall i look for another motherboard? or this one is ok? 3. can i run a 64bit Window 7 on this build? 4. for obvious reason can i run diablo 3 at high setting? 5.am i better off buying this http://www.ebay.co.u...#ht_2534wt_1187 6. lastly, any recommended build out there worth £400 less All Comments would be highly appreciated. Thank you
  6. I'm going to be doing a science fair project in which I test the effectiveness of various windows registry cleaners on improving a computer's performance. Since I'm using a computer that's about seven years old and has experienced a TON of use, I expect to be able to see the effect of the cleaners pretty easily. Anyway, the reason I've come to this forum to talk about this is this: I don't know what aspect of the computer's performance is actually altered by the cleaners, other than the fact that they will fix errors in the registry. Will I see a change in the amount of processes/cpu usage? The physical memory? The kernel memory? I understand that in asking this question I will look like a computer noob, which I am for the most part. But I don't really care, I just need to know the answer so I can create a hypothesis and begin my project. Please answer soon! -Onyk
