  1. Hello, I've been using my two monitors for some time now, and they've just seemed to stop working. By this I mean they just show the same image. I've been through the control panel on connecting one, but it only says there is only one screen connect. I've unplugged and replugged both of them individually and at the same time (It still says there is only one screen when I take the other one out) and restarting with these changes and I've been fiddling with the resolution. I've put a picture of what I'm trying to describe, I've taken a picture of both of my monitors on the "Connecting External Display" page in the control panel. Sorry if I'm not describing it very well. Any help would be well appreciated:)
  2. Heya folks! First time on this forum, hope you all can help me out here. I recently upgraded both my PC to Windows 8 Pro (64bit). Now before I did this I copied a lot of files to an external HDD. It is a 1TB disk in a Rocketfish USB 3.0 enclosure. Now before I did this upgrade this drive was working fine. After the installations were done I noticed that my main PC was freezing up alot. At first I thought I had done something by updating the BIOS, but I noticed I started having the same issues when I connected the drive to my laptop as well. Here is the issue, basically the drive will mount and I can oped the root of it. I can see all the files, but if I try to open and files/folders it freezes up Windows Explorer and I usually have to reboot the PC as nothing will respond. I tried connecting it to my iMac with similar results. I ran a Check Disk on it and it found no errors. I am at a loss, I would really like to recover this drive as it is almost entirely filled with data (930GB out of 1TB). Any help is appreciated! And thanks in advance.
  3. Hey guys, This is my first post ever so lets see how it goes. I have 3 year old Toshiba Satellite A505 - 6565, 8Gb ram, 500Gb HDD, Intel Centrino 2. I want to upgrade my Laptop with a 256gb SSD and install windows 8 on it and use this as my primary drive but also have the capability of booting from my old HDD using the ESATA port on my laptop coupled with an ext. enclosure drive. I bought the enclosure, set everything up, even set my BIOS to boot from ESATA but I did leave my primary bay empty since I have yet to buy a SSD. When I turn on my laptop on, it did not locate the external drive with the 500Gb and windows 7 already loaded on it but instead it started looking for my graphics card or something else not really sure. But it acted like it should when there is no HDD in the laptop. So my questions is: Is what I am trying to do even possible? Do I need to have a drive in the main bay at all times? If it is possible, could someone tell me how or post a link to someone who has done the same thing I am trying to accomplish? Thanks ahead of time guy and gals!
  4. thanks for the help in advance. I am having a very interesting issue with my work computer which is running Windows 7. When I plug in an ntfs drive it crashes explorer. If I close explorer in the task manager and run new task explorer.exe it shows up in task manager but does not pop up on screen. If I try and shutdown after plugging in the drive, it just hangs on shutting down. FAT32 drives work fine, but some of the files I work with are over 4 gigs so I need my ntfs drive to work. I have tried several different ntfs drives and they all do the same thing. When I plug them in other computers they work fine. All FAT32 drives work. Almost every link on google is purple for the searches "ntfs drive freezes explorer", or "external harddrive is not recognized by windows 7" and dozens of other searches. I have tried to look at it through disk management, but the second I plug in the drive it crashes and will never load again. One thing it does do, is in my computer Local Disk E:/ pops up and tries to load. But it never loads, the drive I am using is a toshiba, but I have used WD and other drives and they all do the same thing. I have hit a dead end and I have no idea what to do. Any help would be much appreciated thanks!
